Love Thursday: Mommy

It's Love Thursday and it seems quite fitting today should be Eli Loves Mommy, especially with all the fun stuff we've done together tonight (watering the tomatoes!jumping on the trampoline! watching Arthur! crashing cars! coloring with markers! a bath with bubbles! jumping on the bed! and even taking pictures with mommy's camera!).

Eli loved me before he really knew me. I am still amazed to this day at how he looked at me with such recognition when I first truly met him at almost 4 weeks old. He forgave me for not being there all those times his first year. He even loves me when I'm far from perfect and lose my patience (like right now when he's snuck out of his bed for the fifth time and is still awake at 10:15 p.m.!).
Eli is a Mama's Boy ~ and I love it. I am the only lap he'll sit in for longer than a minute. I make him feel better when he's crying and I'm especially great for sleep ~ many a night Eli's fallen asleep leaning against my side (except apparently not tonight as we are having band practice now with a shaker, tamborine and drum right here in my bedroom!).
And because I'm Mommy I also get the most extreme tantrums - the really huge limit pushing incidents - the pushing of buttons. Perhaps Eli just knows that at the end of the day I'll always love him. And I do - because he's my heart. I am so thankful for every single day I am here to enjoy him - and yes I'm even thankful for the days (or, say, nights) that make me want to pull my hair out. For as much as he loves me? I love him even more. Bigger than the airport. And all the way to the moon and back.
