, oh, several weeks late on the start. But woohoo for first days! The day started around 7:30 and wouldn't you know it was one of those mornings where Eli wanted to sleep in. While I showered, David ushered Eli out of bed to the living room, where I found him half asleep. I gave another "Time to get up Monkey" & fixed him his requested breakfast of graham crackers. Donned our school clothes and took the mandated First Day of School Picture before loading up in the car and waving bye to daddy.
We managed to arrive about fifteen minutes early, perfect for time to meet Ms Heather before our "friends" arrived! Eli walked down the hall all grown, smiling huge at the classes we walked past. I'm not sure i
f the excitement was from school or the fact that I promised they would get to go to the "pwayground" in a "widdle bit"
f the excitement was from school or the fact that I promised they would get to go to the "pwayground" in a "widdle bit" Eli walked right on in to his class and headed straight for (1) the shopping cart & (2) the firetruck. Ms Heather asked for his favorite color so we could put his name in his cubby, but Eli said "No." After asking again and getting the same response, told her any color would be fine. We did have one minor incident when Eli took off his shoes and started removing his socks. When it was requested he Put Them Back On he had a little hissy fit. But the shoes went back on by mandate of Mommy.
I kept track of time while sitting at my desk at work, and I must say the clock moved slow as ever. I arrived ten minutes early to find I was the last parent to pick up! I asked how the day went and learned Eli yelled at Ms Heather every time she gave a direction to him or he was asked to change tasks. And I apologized profusely. Our first day and already we're acting out! I
must say that my fears of Eli Getting Kicked Out of PreK seemed like it might become a reality! I let Ms Heather know this is something that recently started and we are working on it at home. Eli also had one additional tantrum - over wanting to throw his lunch container (cute little sandwich boxes!) in the trash. We plan to practice at home putting containers back in the box so hopefully this won't be a problem next week.

I'm really hoping he is much nicer next week. We are planning on working on Not Yelling this weekend.
Tonight I asked Eli if he had fun at school. Yes mommy. Eni pway on red pwayground. Pway on train. Pway on red pwayground. Then he just wanted to talk about all the things we did after school.
We're hopeful Monday will be an even better school day for Eli, and not just because he'll have music.
